Roaster’s Blog: Brazil Cerrado
Morning Coffee, with Woody
This morning I started the day off with a cup of our Brazil Cerrado. This is one of the main ingredients in our espresso blend which we also roast as a single origin coffee. We roast this coffee to a medium dark to emphasize its smoothness, and give it a bit of roastiness in the cup. Brazil is the worlds leading producer of coffee. Our Cerrado is a fine example of Brazilian coffee. The coffee is easy going and smooth. In the cup the coffee is sweet, moderately bright and very nutty. The flavor is reminiscent of roasted peanuts, still warm. This is a great cup of coffee for sitting on your porch or deck conversing with friends; it will help smooth away the troubles of the day.
Good day and good coffee.

El Salvador Cup of Excellence (1lb) / $13.50
Cup of Excellence is a program that works to bring together the best coffee to the consumer while bringing profit to the growers. This years #1 coffee went for over $20 a pound, and that’s before roasting! What happens is the growers select the best field or crop of coffee and bring it to the auction cupping in the Host country. This year’s cup of excellence auction was for El Salvador. We were able to sample 24 lots of amazing coffees and picked out what we perceived to be the best lot so that we could bring this exceptional coffee to you. It is amazingly fruity in the cup with bright lemony flavors, but also a subtle mango flavor as well. It was very rich and very smooth, with a bit of a roasted almond flavor. You won’t want to miss this, as it is a limited offering. When it is gone, it is gone. Enjoy!

Woody, you can find out who I am by asking Steve or Scott and remind Scott I have not heard from in at least a year. I would like to try the coffee you are sharing about here but I live 320 miles northwest outside of Erie. Both my wife and I have become coffee tasters, not just coffee drinkers, and enjoy rich roasted coffees, grinding our coffee just before we brew it. I enjoy reading your inserts and will continue reading them. Please pass a message along to Steve and Lois we will accept personal delivery of the coffee brewing many pots to taste on out deck watching the buggies go by. dave
