Roaster’s Blog: Smart Blend
This morning I started the day off with our Smart Blend. Smart blend is OVC’s take on the oldest blend of coffee, the Moka Java. Coffee Originated in Ethiopia and was shipped out of the port of Moka in the Middle East. Coffee was later cultivated in Indonesia on the Island of Java. So consequently the two coffees were blended to form the first blend ever. Our Smart Blend is a fresh look on this famous blend, using the finest Harrar Moka and blending it with a Fair Trade Organic Sumatra grown in the Gayo Mountain region.
The first thing you will notice about this coffee is in the grind; the aroma is amazing! I woke up this morning to my wife grinding this coffee and could not wait to get to the kitchen because the rich, fruited smell filled the air. I could not wait to get my hands on a cup. The first sip will hook you. This coffee is big and bold, having the benefits of both component coffees in full effect. The richness and spicy wildness of the Sumatra, mixing with the fruited Harrar is a taste explosion. The first thing you notice upon sipping is the rich depth of the coffee. Both coffees are luxurious, giving your mouth a velvety feel. Then, the fruit comes to the front; a lush blueberry flavor which finishes off with a creamy flavor.
Sorry if I am gushing, but this is truly an amazing blend of coffees. It is my two favorite origins blended and roasted to a nirvana like finish. I know you will enjoy this one.
Good day and good coffee.

Maybe I can start a coffee village in South Africa?
Peace

Hi Charl,
Unfortunately, we do not yet have the capacity to sell internationally. However, I have been to South Africa and LOVE it! I was in Capetown one year and Stellenbosch the next. It is so beautiful and rich with culture and history.
Good luck in all you do,
Andrea
