A few months ago, we at One Village Coffee asked you to help us raise funds for the COMSA Co-op in Marcala, Honduras, as they launched their new pilot program called The Orchard School (click here to learn more). As this project comes to a close for us, we want to share the great progress we made together.

Our goal was to raise $1,500 through the donation of $1 of every purchase of 12oz Artist Blend coffee.  In just one month you helped us pass our goal and raise $1,659 for The Orchard School.  We are continually encouraged by the support and response of our village!

Thanks to you and Fair Trade USA, the COMSA Co-op will be able to provide educational materials to implement The Orchard School. Among these materials, $500 went towards workshops to provide an overview of the project, team building guides, and conflict resolution aids. $1,000 went towards the academic curriculum associated with The Orchard School, which includes materials on:

  • natural resources
  • weather
  • ecosystems of the region
  • agricultural systems
  • environmental problems
  • eating habits
  • gastronomy
  • community & cooperative responsibility

The remaining funds are going to the overall budget for the school. We are looking forward to watching this school blossom! Trust us, we'll definitely keep you posted and we encourage you to follow along on Instagram by using #ovcstewards.
