Invented to warm the cold and wary passengers landing at the Shannon International Airport in 1943 by chef Joe Sheridan, Irish Coffee has quickly become a popular beverage shared all around the world!
While spending a short 2 weeks in Adare Ireland, I stumbled upon a very touristy souvenir shop with free flyers and info sheets all about the history within different parts of Ireland. It was there that I found this Irish Coffee recipe and one that I will keep making for years to come! It's warming, heavy like an Irish Guinness, and sweet to cap of your night. Now that St. Patty's day is this weekend, I knew I had to share this recipe with all of you.

YOU WILL NEED |
- Heavy Whipping Cream
- French Pressed Coffee | We used the LEGEND along with THIS French Press recipe
- 2 teaspoons of sugar (more or less to your taste)
- Irish Whisky | We used JAMESON
STEPS INVOLVED |
- STEP 1 | Take your glass and make sure it's warm. We rinsed our glasses with hot water before we began.
- STEP 2 | Make French Pressed coffee and set aside
- STEP 3 | Using a stand mixer, whip the heavy whipping cream until it forms stiff peaks, and set aside. Essentially you are making "whipped cream"!
- STEP 4 | Pour in 1 "Jigger" of Irish whiskey (also known as 1.5 oz's) in each glass
- STEP 5 | Add your sugar, but wait to stir
- STEP 6 | Fill the glass with the French Pressed LEGEND that was set aside
- Leave about 1 inch of room at the top of your glass
- STEP 7 | Now stir the sugar sitting at the bottom of your glass
- STEP 8 | Top your beverage with the whipped cream you made in step 3
- STEP 9 | Enjoy this layered drink without mixing the whipped cream into the whisky and coffee. The drink was originally designed for the whisky and coffee to be sipped through the cream on top!
