The Story

We’re extremely proud to offer this limited edition Cup of Excellence lot from our partners at Finca Matapalo. The lot is a blend of Gesha, Bourbon and Caturra varieties from the highest reaches of the farm at 1750 meters from a lot they call Cachimbo. It is honey processed which means the coffee was dried with some of the fruit left on the beans. The folks at Matapalo entered this lot in the 2019 Peru Cup of Excellence and landed in 34th place overall, a fantastic achievement in a country that produced over 4 million bags of coffee in 2019!

Up front we taste vibrant melon and green grape, followed by a juicy sugary sweetness and a long lingering silky chocolate finish. This coffee is somehow both elegant and robust, distinguished and highly drinkable. Enjoy!
