    FARMERS

    Hoja Blanca is a unique community coffee lot representing the hard work of seven farming families. These farmers are part of an inclusive effort facilitated by Don Gerson of Finca San Rafael, who plays a vital role in connecting his neighbors to the specialty coffee market. Their coffees pass through Don Gerson’s processing equipment prior to export, creating an opportunity for these families to access this premium market.

    Located in the remote, high-altitude region of Hoja Blanca, Huehuetenango, these farms are known for producing exceptional coffee. However, their location presents challenges, far from major cities and global markets. This is where relationships and supply chains matter most. Our importer, Collaborative Origins Imports (COI), who specializes in Guatemalan coffees, formed a new relationship with Don Gerson this past year. Gerson stated of the partnership and farming families, “It’s an honor to be able to process their coffees and extend out to them a better market outlet as a result of our relationship with COI.”

    We are grateful for these collaborations that allow us to share these incredible coffees with you, showcasing the dedication and hard work of the farmers in Hoja Blanca.

    ROASTERS

    Guatemala coffees don’t get much better than this. Hoja Blanca has the chocolate and brown sugar notes we love from Guats, but there are also some deep red and purple fruit notes that are peeking through the cup. It’s fragrant, balanced, and sweet. We love this coffee. We caramelize this roast just enough to get all the balance, body, and sweetness while also highlighting the acidity and fruity notes.

    COFFEE LOVERS

    This is a great all around coffee for anyone who likes light to medium roast coffees. It will perform well on any brew method, there honestly isn’t one we wouldn’t recommend. Expect higher acidity in this coffee than the norm, but the bitterness is low, and the sweetness is high.
