If you've been following my blogs this year, you know I'm always excited about the amazing organizations working to make life better for coffee farmers. We're proud members of 1% for the Planet, which means a portion of every bag of One Village Coffee goes to programs that make a difference. You've probably read my highlights of Project Waterfall, Grounds for Health, The Chain Collaborative and World Coffee Research. Today, I want to wrap up our 2025 partner highlights by talking about Food 4 Farmers, an organization dedicated to ending food insecurity in coffee-growing communities.
Coffee farming is a labor of love, but it comes with challenges like fluctuating prices, climate pressures, and rising costs that often leave smallholder farmers facing food insecurity—especially during the “thin months” between harvests, when nutritious meals become scarce. Food 4 Farmers partners with coffee cooperatives in Latin America to break this cycle by supporting sustainable agriculture, diversifying income, and strengthening food security through local, community-led solutions. With access to nutrition, education, and resources, farmers can feed their families, build resilience, and continue producing the specialty coffee we all love.

Home Gardens: Growing Food and Skills
This year, a portion of our donation helped fund Food 4 Farmers' Home Gardens for Family Consumption program. These gardens aren't just vegetables in the backyard—they're classrooms, nutrition hubs, and a lifeline for families. They produce fresh, organic food year-round, teach families agroecological skills, and save money on groceries. That money can go toward things like school supplies or medicine.
Every garden we support is a small investment in the future. Families eat better, kids learn better, and communities grow stronger.

Agroforestry: Trees That Give Back
We also supported F4F's agroforestry program in Nicaragua. Farmers in the SOPPEXCCA cooperative have been planting trees and plants since 2020—fruit trees for families and markets, hardwoods for shade, pollinator-friendly plants for bees, plus other trees to prevent erosion and improve water access for home gardens.
It's a triple win: families get food, pollinators get forage, and the forests get restored. Agroforestry is a long-term investment in people and the planet.
Why It Matters to Us
Supporting Food 4 Farmers fits right into what sustainability means for us at One Village Coffee. It's not just about growing coffee responsibly—it's about growing communities, building resilience, and making sure the people behind your favorite cup of coffee can thrive.
So the next time you pour a cup, remember: you're not just enjoying a delicious brew—you're helping plant seeds of change (literally and figuratively).
Farmers. Roasters. Coffee Lovers. We are One Village.
